Tromboner

Hi! Let me tell you about a supposedly exciting weekend that I just had:

I went to see Steve in his pad, which was exciting because he's just installed a new bath, and then we had lovely pie and mash, and then I bought a new coat, which I love so much that I've worn it every day since, even though it's not really cold enough yet (I would show you a picture, but my camera is kind of dead).
The exciting part of the weekend was that we went to see the Mighty Boosh live. I was well excited, man, well excited. Sadly, it wasn't anywhere near as good as the first time we saw them live. It was funny, don't get me wrong, but not quite as funny as it should have been. Also, Cardiff International Arena kind of sucks if you're sitting near the back and are short. I couldn't see much. And I really wanted to get a good view of the glitterball suit show too. Still, good bits involved Howard looking like he'd just jumped out of Ben-Hur, Tromboner (oh baby), and Tony Harrison raping the severed head of the honey monster. Speaking of which, there were a couple of people in the audience dressed up like Tony Harrison; pretty awesome if you ask me. And if you don't know what Tony Harrison looks like, then this might help you realise why walking around Cardiff City Centre dressed like him is quite a brave thing to do.

Anyway, in other news: I forgot to post this here before. I made a video of the Gundam Meisters. Warning: not safe for work and really flipping weird. I still have no idea what possessed me to make this; I think I was dissertation crazy. In any case, that's milkshake y'hear. MILKSHAKE. But, well, I'm still slightly disturbed, to tell the truth.

And. At work today, I was cataloguing some records from Northern Ireland, and one of the people mentioned in one of the records was called Lyle. It was his surname, mind, but still.

More news about Lyle, and Gundam00 season 2 episode 3, below. SPOILERS AHEAD

Return of the Mack

Right Right Right

So I'm back from an amazing weekend in New York in which Mariya had a WEDDING. It was lots of fun. There was also Loveless cosplay in the park (unrelated). I am subsequently very jetlagged at the moment. Staying awake at work is hard. There'll be more about NYC later once I've had a chance to steal some photos from facebook to show you.

As it is I have another very exciting weekend coming up, for which I have to go pack right now.

In other news: Gundam00 second season is taking my life at the moment. Loving it so far. But most especially, this is relevant to my interests.

Hi

Prompted by Nick.

I am still here guys. I've been a bad blogger recently, I know.

But you know how I said I've been a little funny in the head recently? I'm still not quite over it. I think my mind needs some time to sort itself out proper-like.

In other news: I've finally finished reading The Life of Johnson! Hooray! It only took me a year and a half. Dear God. Now I've started reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which I seem to be getting through at the rate of knots. I think I'll have finished it come the end of tomorrow D:

I am STILL NOT DEAD

I had a crazy week last week in which I actually went a bit wrong mentally in the head. I think, just between you and me, that I was getting a bit of cabin fever.

Luckily though, I started my new job on Monday, and now that I am leaving the house every day I am suddenly much better.

Things about my new job:

- I LOVE MY NEW JOB
- The place I work in has a nice atmosphere

- I've spent the past two days reading books on interesting historical subjects
- Today I got to read (and touch) a volume that was hand-written in the 16th Century

- Tomorrow I'm getting paid to go look around a museum

I hope this honeymoon period never ends.

Also, I'm going to a wedding on Friday, then going bridesmaid dress shopping on Saturday.

And in other wedding news, you probably know that I am going to NYC for Mariya's wedding in October. I found out yesterday that both of my flatmates are going to be in New York on exactly the same weekend. We all booked separately and in ignorance of each other's plans. In other words, this is a really freaky coincidence. If there's time, we should meet up in Manhattan and have a mini London celebration.

I AM NOT DEAD

Sorry for the absence guys. I have been busy piecing my life back together after the diss. This means that there has been lots of:

- cleaning
- sorting
- organising
- 'Janine' time (aka bumming around and not doing much of anything)

Also, I have been reading Richard Dawkins. I feel like a bit of a loser for choosing to buy it, because I already know that I'm going to agree with most of the things it says. But if religious people can own lots of books about how religion is great and how they are right, then I figure I can own at least one book that validates my own views.

Maybe I'll post more on the subject when I've finished reading the book. I'm actually a pretty staunch atheist, but I rarely talk about it here because a) the internets is no place for srs bsns, b) I dislike talking about it with religious people because I don't like upsetting anyone, and c) I don't want to get into any arguments about it with religious people because I know I'm not going to be able to win >_>

I also bought Tom Jones because it is old-school and the blurb on the back sounded quite racy >_>

In other news, the good old English summertime has been going well.

The pigeons don't like it. See also: the bedraggled heron in the background; he doesn't like it either. (The geese, however, are nonplussed.)

The good thing about going to the park in the rain is that, while you get wet trousers, you do also get the park to yourself (and if you have ever been to a central London park when it's been sunny, you'll know that this is something to be savoured).

Almost there...

81 pages

81 pages

I feel like I've been through the wars ;_;

Tomorrow I'm reading it over once more then printing printing printing.

p.s. In case you hadn't heard, I've given up chocolate for good ;_;
Possibly more on that story later.

DO NOT WANT

My flatmate has a bag of potatoes that have been in the cupboard for quite a while.

He's just taken them out and... THERE ARE MAGGOTS CRAWLING ALL OVER THEM.

DDDDDDDDDD:

I suddenly feel kind of funny.

Crazy projects

It's always when I'm crazy busy with work that I come up with brilliant ideas of projects to do. They sound great, but I know that when I finally hand in the work, the projects will never materialise (well, actually, apart from Clematis, which was a crazy project concocted in the middle of exams, so maybe they don't all fall by the wayside).

Anyway, I'm finding it hard to do any work today, because I keep thinking about this crazy project and trying to plan it out.

I shan't say what the project is, so as not to ruin the surprise if I ever did it, but I can say that it involves one of my favourite songs and 4 Gundam Meisters.

*pulls out hair* I'd better get this dissertation done, because the sooner it's done the sooner I can work on this project. Also, I'm not allowed to go to sleep today until I've finished writing this chapter ;_;

Oh God

They've really upped the pace now that Code Geass is nearly at the finish line.

Seriously, watching it is like a roller-coaster ride.

Whether Code Geass is a good show or not, it definitely gets you going.

I nearly cried.

p.s. Despite some of the hate that seems to be going around, Schneizel is slowly becoming my favourite character. (I secretly want Schneizel and Lelouch to unite against Charururururu. It would be amazing.)

Godammit Internet!

So, how am I supposed to write my dissertation about the internet if the pages keep changing? Seriously, I went to look at the 10 Downing Street website just now, and it looks completely different to how it did last week D:

THAT SAID, the new 10 Downing Street website is pretty sexy. Nomnomnom I could eat it up.

Oh, I want to do some web design again! I'm persuading my Dad to let me redesign his website as we speak.

Suddenly my life has coherency again

I am putting this on my wall and tattooing it on my face and I am going TO RUDDY WELL STICK TO IT, that's what.

TWO WEEKS TO GO until I plan to be finished. The end is so close that I CAN ALMOST SMELL IT.

In other news, I lovingly stole some photos of our paintballing from facebook.

I did not realise there was so much embarrassment in my face at the time. But, in hindsight, it's probably to be expected when you are wearing overalls so large that you have a gusset hanging around your knees.

Maybe I have shell shock

There is nothing nicer than sleeping for 11 hours straight (god I needed that) then waking up and having a lovely shower (I needed that too).

Yesterday I went to my very first hen-do; it was for my course-friend Emma, who's getting married in September. (Why so many weddings at the moment? Must be crazy pheromones in the air or something.)

Hen-do consisted of:
A picnic in the rain (oh England), drying off in front of the fire with cake and a romcom, pizza, and a bus tour of London town (which I didn't go on, because I could foresee myself falling asleep for the whole journey (see also: sleeping for 11 hours straight last night)).

Also, there was paintballing. I've never been to paintballing before, and my only experience of it was from watching it on Spaced.
- I don't like active things. I don't like aggressive things. I don't like things where I might get hurt. On the way in we saw a very large group of young guys - our opponents. We got in and had to sign an insurance form that absolved the paintball company of all liability in case of injury or death. DEATH.
- I was, to put it mildly, ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED.

But it turns out that it's no way near as dangerous or as painful as I first thought. The games were short and the guys were very sporting and not boisterous at all, and it was considered perfectly fine to spend your whole time hiding sniping.

And actually. IT WAS PRETTY FUN. The most painful hit I got was to the knuckle of my trigger finger. I have a bruise. I am insanely proud of it and call it my 'war wound'.

So, in conclusion, paintball was good, but judging from my experience, I reckon I'd be pretty rubbish if I had to do actual war.

OK. It's back to typing now.

I know I've got to send lots of facebook messages (esp. to Mariya: I saw your engagement photos, they're lovely), and I want to draw Tieria fanart and write Tieria fanfic so badly it hurts, but it'll have to wait until I'm feeling less pressured.

brb, typing.
