Well, I haven't really had a post in which I've gotten all excited over CLAMP instead of Giant Space Robots (shh, Code Geass doesn't count) in a long time.

Let me talk about Tsubasa chapters 189 and 190, oh, and how about recent xxxHolic too, for good measure.

It seems that a lot of people are very unhappy with the latest Tsubasa and are all, "CLAMP are on drugs, and clearly making this shit up as they go along to keep everyone reading".

I do not believe this at all. I must be in a minority, because right now I am thinking "CLAMP are amazing, this story just got brilliantly exciting again, I have no idea what's going on but I've got loads the think about, Tsubasa is great".

There is no way that CLAMP have just made this up on the spur of the moment. I am quite sure that all the important plot twists have been planned right from the beginning. CLAMP always has plot twists, and they are always laid very carefully. Everything always makes sense at the end!

I'm not saying that Tsubasa is a literary masterpiece (see also: vampires! flying cars!) but I am saying that it has all been carefully thought through, and that all the plot holes and hints will be knitted together by the end.

So, the big ruckus?
Turns out Syaoran is not actually called Syaoran, is not actually an alternate version of Syaoran, but is actually the son of Sakura and Syaoran. That's right. The Sakura and Syaoran, from Cardcaptor Sakura.
Which means that 'Syaoran' in Tsubasa may actually turn out to be in love with an alternate version of his own mother. (I am leaving the 'may' in there because it's still a little up in the air at the moment, and I am confused.) Still, blimey, CLAMP. I am in shock.

Point 1:
I love that there is an actual solid connection to Cardcaptor Sakura. CCS was my first manga, and is still in some ways my favourite manga. It's the reason I started reading Tsubasa in the first place. I am entirely happy that Tsubasa will be able to tie into CCS properly, instead of being some crazy AU. Who cares, when it's only AU? It's more interesting this way.

And it seems that Clow Country Sakura is an alternate version of CCS Sakura (little Tsubasa!Sakura is really really cute by the way). She has the same parents as CCS Sakura! That means they're the same to me.

Point 2:
I am glad that Sakura has the same parents as before. My mind was hurting otherwise, thinking, "Genetics doesn't work that way!" But but but, Clow was awesome as the king of Clow country. Where is Clow? Where does Clow come into it now? Also, is Yue going to turn up anywhere, now that things have gone crazy? (I have been waiting for Yue to turn up since about, I don't know, CHAPTER 1, or something.)

Point 3:
I love love love how the beginning of Tsubasa chapter 189 was the same as the first chapter of xxxHolic, only with 'Syaoran' in place of Watanuki (I still love the first chapter of xxxHolic like burning; it being all, Yuuko is mysterious and awesome, and all that).

So, this brings up the question of who Watanuki is, and when he entered Yuuko's shop. My thinking now is that Watanuki is a part of 'Syaoran', like some memories, or some power, or something. I would love to have it all cleared up with when Watanuki entered the shop and what he wished for, and when 'Syaoran' got imprisoned by Fei Wang Reed and everything, but I suppose I will have to wait until the end of both mangas to find that out.

Moving more onto xxxHolic now: Kohane's power coming from Sakura's feather was a brilliant twist, and I feel silly for not even guessing it, even though her name is Kohane (which translates as 'little feather').

But, here's where it gets interesting. I was watching xxxHolic Kei episode 5, where Watanuki meets Kohane for the first time. I'm not sure if the words are exactly the same as in the manga, but Watanuki says things along the lines of "She feels familiar" and "We are the same". Now, if you were to suppose that Watanuki was a part of 'Syaoran', and therefore, was the son of Sakura, could his feeling of familiarity with Kohane be because Kohane has one of Sakura's feathers inside her? In other words, Watanuki is subconsciously thinking "She feels like my mother"?

I love how both Tsubasa and xxxHolic link together so nicely. The plots of both are just beginning to get really interesting; I feel like we're just on the verge of figuring everything out.

Haha, I love plot twists that make me theorise. It's like a mystery story!
