A very CLAMP post
I had to stop everything I was doing today to stare at the splash page of Tsubasa chapter 127 for a number of hours. It is glorious. Pirate Fay. Or, if you prefer:
Elegant
Extravagant
Nonchalant
Flamboyant
Viscount Fay
What an outfit! What an expression! I have not seen an expression like that on Fay before. This is not happy cookies and sprinkles Fay. This is 'I'm cold. Throw another puppy on the fire' Fay. I don't quite know what to do with myself. I am getting too excited about this series, please make it stop ohgod don't ever let it stop...
So Tsubasa Chronicle episode 40 was surprisingly good. After the horrifying vision that was the bus filler *shudders* it was nice to once again have plot. Luckily enough the episode seemed to have consistant character design and reasonable directing thrown in. Also, little Kuragane's voice acting was amazing; I nearly cried.
Fuuurther CLAMP: I finally finished reading Magic Knight Rayearth this weekend. It was, hmmm....It was my least favourite CLAMP work I'm afraid to say. I really did feel that I wasn't target audience and that the whole thing was a little too simple for me (quite unlike Card Captor Sakura, which I found both adsorbing and adorable). The plot seemed rather hurried and the humour out of place (and not really very funny at all) and the relationships were rather jammed in, seemingly just for the sake of it. Ah, but this is CLAMP and this means that happily the plot and the moral messages were unexpected, interesting and surprisingly mature.
I know it is terrible to dislike the original, but I prefer Mokona=Modoki to MKR!Mokona; they are just really lewd more funny.
I have also just downloaded almost all of the remaining X that I have left to read (Amazon didn't have any in stock for some reason), so I'm going to binge on that at some point.
So, am I going to have to start buying more CLAMP? There's still a lot that I haven't read. I'm quite tempted to go for RG Veda as it's their other big tragic work. It would also be interesting in that I would understand the Tsubasa crossovers a lot more (especially Ashura-ou). Also it's got Ashura in it, which, if he is even somewhat equivalent to his Tsubasa incarnation, would give viscount pirate Fay a run for his money. See exhibit a (taken from here, I didn't want to hotlink). Hopefully the older art won't look too clunky. Now, all I need to do is free my purse-strings a little.
