Read the book after you watch the movie, it’s definitely interesting to see some of the things explained. I saw Ring, not Ringu and though that it was pretty scary but I want to see Ringu now. As for Suicide Club it’s a 1997 cult classic - a web site with red & white dots appears. Every time the number of dots increases it’s followed by a mass suicide of school kids, as if the site is predicting it. I don’t want to reveal too much, but the premise of the movie is this - media tells you what to wear, what to eat, who is pretty, who is smart…what if media told you to do something more extreme? Would you do it? The movie takes this premise to the extreme and there’s a surprise ending! There’s a fair share of blood and gore, but it didn’t bother me much (I’m generally not a fan of these things) and the 1st major scene is very memorable. (trust me!) It also asks more questions than it can answer, but I heard that it’s part of a trilogy and a second movie “Noriko’s Dinner Table” that explains quite a few things is out/will be out in Japan shortly and will come to the US in a year or two. I still haven’t seen Kill Bill even though I really want to! I also want to see Battle Royale and I just saw Itchi the Killer (which was a disappointmet - massive, unnecessary blood and gore, weak story line, annoying characters and little suspense - waste of time!) How is Master & Margarita going?

Ah! I think I did miss the other comments, sorry! I haven’t seen Suicide Club, what’s it about?
And I’m not sure I want to read Ringu if it makes the film less scary, but then I might not watch the film again because I don’t own it so…
I’ve got a couple of volumes of the Ring manga, but I don’t really think they add anything to the film, except average art.

I like how well Chloe’s eyes express the concentration - it’s hard to draw someone thinking! Have you seen my other comments? I suspect they were left without attention. :(

I’m not sure I’d put Battle Royale down as being a good film. The storyline is quite ridiculous. But if you like to watch teenagers kill each other then why not give it a go. (You know, there’s a play at work called Battle Royal, which I keep thinking is Battle Royale, but it’s actually about the royal family working out the succession to the throne or something, and not Japanese at all.)
Kill Bill is a must see! There is quite a lot of violence in it, yes, but it is almost comedy violence, and it is done by samurai swords so it is very cool. The first film is the better than the second because of the samurai swords mentioned above, and also Yakuzas.
I’m maybe halfway through The Master and Margerita now. I’ve just met the master, I think. I’ve a feeling that the plot is leading somewhere, but I’m not quite sure where just yet.
