Geass Finale
Goodness! The very final episode of Code Geass aired days ago, and I still haven't blogged about it yet? Some fan I am!
So, here goes.
SPOILERS FOR BOTH SEASONS OF CODE GEASS AHEAD BE YE WARNED ALL WHO ENTER HERE
So, the ending?
SATISFACTORY
I'm not going to say that it was super great, because there have been better episodes, but the ending didn't disappoint.
So, not many twists at all in the final episode, which is quite shocking in itself I suppose.
I have to say, I'm quite glad that Lelouch kicked the bucket. Now, don't get me wrong. I like Lelouch, I've always liked Lelouch, he's a great character, but I would feel a bit miffed if he actually turned out to be alive at the end, like some people are trying to make out. Why? Because I've always had the feeling that Lelouch was going to die at the end. Even in the first series I knew he wasn't going to get a good ending, and at the end of the second season the chances of him staying alive seemed to dwindle.
In all honesty, I'm surprised that Suzaku didn't die too. But I'm quite glad at how things turned out. It's a bitter triumph for both of them, and that's quite a fitting end to it if you ask me.
Haha, look at me pretend like I knew how it was going to end from the get go! I didn't! Here's how, a few months ago, I thought the ending of Code Geass might play out:
- Lelouch manages to defeat Britannia and his father.
- It is only then that Lelouch realises what he has become (aka the emperor (aka his father)) and is aghast.
- Twist! Nunally knew that Lelouch was Zero all along and secretly agreed with what he was doing.
So, um, that didn't happen. I'm quite disappointed that the Nunally thing didn't. I really did think that Nunally knew Lelouch was Zero for a long time. I mean, if you think about it, there's a good chance that Nunally is as smart as her brother, and a mask and cape aren't going to fool a blind girl. Surely Lelouch couldn't sound that different as Zero for her not to notice!
So I'm a bit sad that that never played out that way. But Lelouch and Nunally reconciled in the end anyway, so it's alright.
Other things I would have liked to have happened at the end:
- I want to know what happened to Xing Ke. He was badass! He was going to die of badass consumption! What happened?
- I know he'd already played his part, but a little more of Schneizel at the end would have been nice. With bonus Kanon too.
- Why isn't Sayoko on the Orange farm with Orange-kun? Yes, I did ship Sayoko x Orange.
But:
- Cornelia! And Guildford! Them both being alive makes me happy.
So, all in all. SATISFACTORY END.
Now, why the hell am I still talking about Code Geass? Gundam00 is about to start soon. Chop chop!

I completely agree with your preceeding correspondant. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Shut your face :)
