Today I decided to try my hand at drawing in a realistic style (I've not actualy tried it before). And what better way to start than with a self portrait (click for big):
I'm pretty sure it's, at best, rubbish; but that's forgivable seeing as it's a first attempt. I went a bit mental with the colouring of the lips (my lips aren't black I swear), and colouring in nostrils, I have decided, is a no-no. And crikey I have a lot of moles on my face.

Does it look like me? I wasn’t so sure because it’s hard to see pictures that you’ve just drawn for what they really are; also, I don’t look at my face as much as other people do.
Well I did use a photo as reference, because sitting in front of a mirror just sounded too difficult, but I didn’t trace it, oh no.
And Jan 2007 is the date, but I think it might be my robot name from now on! What’s your robot name? Is it Steveatron (you could level-up to become ultra-Steveatron)?

shit the bed if its not a picture of you! It looks like its been traced off of a photo. so if it hasn’t then way cool; kudos to you.
but, why call yourself Jan2007? is that like your robot name?
that’s a really cool picture, it remind me of Alex Katz’s work. I’ve only tried doing portraits but it didn’t work, I wish they they came anywhere close to what you were able to create.
