Gundam00 Second Season Finale
There's going to be a Gundam00 movie out next year.
\o/
Now I've got a valid reason to continue fangirling over the show for at least another 12 months!
Let's talk about the ending of the second season. SPOILERS BELOW.
Well, hmmm. DAMP SQUIB. Is, I think, what sums up this episode the best.
I kept thinking "there's no way they can wrap this up satisfactorily in this amount of time" and, well, they didn't. But then I found out there's going to be a movie and suddenly everything made sense. The plot's not supposed to wrap up completely yet. It's supposed to be open ended.
I'm glad that there's going to be so much more time to resolve all the issues that have not yet been dealt with. But I'm still a little peeved, because I was expecting an EPIC END to the season, and that's not what I got.
There are lots of things I would like to talk about, but two stand out as being particularly worth mention.
1. PATRICK PATRICK PATRICK PATRICK
He's not dead! I'm so glad. I really thought he'd kicked the bucket this time, but no! It just goes to show. YOU CAN'T KILL OFF THE COMIC RELIEF. The wedding was just the perfect icing on the perfect cake. Patrick is brilliant. He cracks me up. And the thought of little baby Patricks running around in a couple of years cracks me up even more.
2. Tieria gets a good bad I don't even know how I feel about it end.
Point the first: Technically, he is dead.
Point the second: Technically, he is actually still alive.
Point the third: He was becoming so human.
Point the fourth: But now he's trapped inside a computer.
Point the fifth: He actually sounds quite happy about it.
Point the sixth: But he deserves better. A computer is no place for a human. He deserves a normal life surrounded by other people.
So. I'm really glad that Tieria isn't dead. I had this awful dread from about halfway through the season that he wasn't going to make it. But this way he was able to make his great sacrifice for his friends while not dying (somewhat). Also, it suddenly makes more sense when you consider the movie. They can't kill one of the best loved characters if he's going to come back for the movie.
And he will come back for the movie. And he will have a body again. I am sure of it.
For now though, no body for T-chan. Which is sad, because he had such a pretty body. Oh well, at least we finally got to see NAKED TIERIA IN SPACE as a consolation prize. Still no answer as to his actual gender though. Goddammit. I should stop hoping to find out, I don't think we ever will. (Maybe he really is completely smooth like a barbie doll. I wouldn't put it past him.)
I may well write an in-depth Tieria character study at some point (and maybe some of the other characters too). But at the moment I'll just go sit over here for a few months until it's movie time *waits impatiently*
