Fear and Loathing and Microbes
I just borrowed Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas form my flatmate. Man, is that one bad trip of a film. I had no idea what was going on most of the time, but I think maybe that was the point. It was fascinating to watch, in a way where you don't really want to watch it, but you can't look away. It was enjoyable though, and funny in places.
On a related note, I really don't think that I have a personality that would work well with drugs; my level of fear about the whole world is just set too high. Seriously, that stuff would scare me senseless.
Anyway, the main point is that Johnny Depp is very good at acting like he's off his tits. Once again, it makes me wish he could to play the gentleman with thistledown hair in the upcoming Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell movie; it would be brilliant I say, brilliant.
'We can't stop here, this is bat country.'
I also finished watching Moyashimon in a big binge the other day. That show turned out to be a lot funnier than I originally thought it would be. And trap Kei... trap Kei made my day. The microbes were being a bit cryptic at the end though; is there going to be a second season? I hope so. But one thing's for sure; I don't want to kill any of the cute microbes. I'll never wash again!
In the new run of cartoons this January, I tried watching Hatenkou Yuugi, which seems to be about a young girl and her two travelling companions. But I, I don't get it. At all. The show is bad. Bad animation. Bad plot. But. It's tongue in cheek bad. It's meant to be that way. And I don't know why. Is it meant to be a parody? Is it meant to be funny? I just can't grasp it, so I'm going to have to let it go. I was almost tempted to keep watching because I realised that one of the characters was voiced by the same person as the Medicine Seller from Mononoke, but it wasn't enough. Subsequently I found out that the same guy also voices Suzaku from Code Geass. Suzaku? And the Medicine Seller? Voiced by the same person? I had no idea. I'm quite shocked.
And, because my flatmate is good at lending me stuff recently, I also borrowed Pieces of the People We Love by the Rapture.
Handclaps? And Cowbell? MY ONLY WEAKNESS!
